Palisade Fences

This fence can come in many types and sizes, it can be bought in made up sections of fence or the most versitile option is to construct the fence on site, using a post and rail frame and fix individual pales to the rails. The pales are available in many types, flat top, pointed top or round tops with a sawn or planed finish. Pales can be nailed or screwed to the fence with any gap between them to suit your own preference. Fixing pales to both sides of a fence can make a private screen but still lets the wind through, particularly useful in very exposed areas.

  Wattle and Willow Hurdles

English Wattle hurdles are made from split hazel, the front side showing the bark and the back showing the split hazel twiggs.
They are usualy erected on round treated timber posts driven into the ground, the hurdles are secured to the posts and each other using galvanizes wire or, as an alternative, strong black cable ties are effective.
Hurdles make an attractive rustic fence which is ideal for protecting a newly planted hedge providing a screen until the plants are established.
